The Mailman's Daughter

The time has come. All of our hammering and painting is over and we are ready to unveil the newest member of the Alice and Jay family. The Mailman's Daughter will have it's grand opening on Friday, October 26th. I can hardly wait and yet it will be a bittersweet day for me.

Meet the mailman. His name was Spence Hallman and he was the greatest daddy that a daughter could ever have.

He was the best "dada" that two granddaughters could ever have.

He was simply the best. He was kind and gentle. He never met a stranger. He was the definition of humility. He was a simple man who filled my childhood with magic and laughter and all things wondrous and wonderful.

I had to let my daddy go this year(though I know it is temporary and we will meet again). It is the hardest thing I have ever had to do.

Not long after, I had the opportunity to open a store in the post office where he worked for 45 years. How could I pass it up? It is in a very small town with very few stores but it felt right. It felt like a chance to honor my Father.

Now, after a small remodel job, we are ready to open our doors. It will be a learning experience for us. We hope to create a another quaint shop in another small town that is filled with giggles and smiles, Magic and marvels, and of course our signature flamingoes and flying carpets.

If you are traveling on hwy 84 near Boston,Ga. We hope you can stop by and say hello. Be sure and plan your stop around lunch time. The Boston Cafe has the best lunch specials around! We hope to see you soon!
